Myra Knapp's subtle arrest of the spirit, energy and beauty of her environment endow her landscapes with compelling power. This talent has been applied to works describing the West for the last three decades and is seen in painterly forms that capture vastness, magnitude, mystery and solitude.

Inspired by an active artistic family, Knapp studied at the university level; carefully selected American artists and teachers Scott Christensen, Charles Movalli, Ted Goerschner, Ron Rencher and Randall Sexton, whose impressionist paintings have achieved national fame, and worked with them to gain her en plein air expertise and to develop her own unique style. In addition, two years of study in Europe exposed her to the work of  history's great artists as well as contemporary styles and concerns.
